Angel Heroes Song, third version
I wrote the lyrics of the song Angel Heroes (music and arrangement by gifted local musician John Valentine, demoed by Azalea studios in Nashville in 2005, and CD cover by my friend Phyllis Ha) as a tribute to my formerly dearest friend and present angel hero Vic Lazzarini, the protagonist of my memoir Angel Hero.
This was the third version of Angel Heroes demoed by talented Azalea studios in Nashville. Why did I write multiple versions of this song? Because thoughts of deep-hearted, fun-loving Vic continued to dance through my mind as I pursued my quest of capturing his character and telling his story in such a soulful and authentic way it would do his spirit proud.
And I might not be done yet! I’ve got a feeling the future holds changed lyrics and another demo.
Here are the lyrics that belong to this version:
Angel Heroes
You who died protecting us are heroes
You bravely fought the devil in his den
We’re proud of you but hurting too
Our hope died with you ‘til you rose again
At dawn we sometimes feel your spirit kiss
Your living light dissolves our pain like mist
Angel heroes above the blue blue sky
Your true love gives us the wings to fly
Up up and away into your arms again
Still our white knights now with angel wings
Shine your higher love on us and hear us sing
Angel heroes, angel heroes
Kissing you in our dreams
The Bible says no man has greater love
Than he who dies so other folks might live
We thank the Lord your spirit soared
Your final thought was wanting just to give
You conquered night to shine in dawn’s golden blush
You heal us with your awesome holy touch
Angel heroes above the blue blue sky
Your true love gives us the wings to fly
Up up and away into your arms again
Still our white knights now with angel wings
Shine your higher love on us and hear us sing
Angel heroes, angel heroes
Kissing you in our dreams
Kissing you, kissing you
Feeling you kissing us too
Kissing you, kissing you,
Feeling your love shine through
Angel heroes, angel heroes,
Kissing you in our dreams
I hope listening to Angel Heroes gives you goose bumps, or, as they say in Hawaii, chicken skin, as it does me. Comments?
